As a mother of an adoptive special needs child, her son was born in the 26th week of pregnancy and weighed less than 3 pounds. He spent just under 3 months in the NICU and is a true "Miracle Baby". Although he has had challenges, they have been met head on through sensory stimulation, massage, physical, speech & occupational therapy including hippo-therapy. He has made great progress. Our goal is to continue to help him reach his fullest potential.
Lorie has been a nurse since 1991. Her early work experience was at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital on the Cardiac/Telemetry Unit & at ETMC in Tyler. This social service position included teen parent education, child birth education, charity & other non profit experiences.
When Lorie decided to home-school her son, she transferred to The Family Care Center OB Clinic in Tyler, a part of Trinity Mother Frances Hospital where she did case management & taught Child Birth, Newborn Care & Breastfeeding classes. Lorie worked at the Family Care Center for 10 years before opening her own business, Happy Baby Secrets, PLLC in Longview, TX. Personal Note From Lorie : Knowing the special concerns of parents of preemies, it is my passion to bring awareness of the benefits of touch & massage , not only to parents of full term infants but to all parents and the entire community. The evidence based research shows that when parents of premature babies massage or do gentle touch/containment holds on their baby, not only does the baby grow faster and statistically leave the hospital 5 days sooner, but the hospital saves thousands of dollars with these improved outcomes. Research also confirms the positive long term outcomes with diminished sensory aversions and increased cognition to name a few. Touch is also a great way to bond with your new baby if you are an adoptive parent.
There is also a positive effect on communities and increased bonding for new & teen mothers as they learn the "Baby Calming" techniques. Evidence has shown that this can decrease the incidence of child abuse & lower the risk of post-partum depression, as does the infant massage.
Contact me if you have any questions.

It has been my extreme pleasure since completing the Liddle Kidz Certification training in 2017 , to give families the wonderful gift of parent-massage education. Though I was certified for infants in 2012, this additional Liddle Kidz training allowed me to include NICU post discharge families, special needs, and young children for Story Time massage -- each of which come with unique benefits for families.
